NOOB Singapore Open Buggy 2013 Rd1 report
The 1/10 EP Offroad season kicked off in Singapore last weekend with round 1 of the NOOB Singapore Open Buggy Series held at the RaceWorks Arena. In the 4WD class, reigning champ Mark “BC” Lim set the pace in qualifying and secured his Durango DEX410 buggy a spot at the front of the grid. Unfortunately he experienced transmission issues throughout the mains. Last year’s series runner-up Tein capitalized on this and with some great runs took the win in all 3 mains. Joakim, who has steadily been moving up the rankings in the past years finished in 2nd leaving BC to be content with a 3rd place finish.
4WD Top 3
1. Tein – Durango
2. Joakim – Durango
3. Mark “BC” Lim – Durango
For the 2WD A-Main, Png emerged TQ with his Yokomo Bmax2 followed by Paul Martin and Ricco. BC’s hopes for a better result were almost dashed as he barely made it to the A-Main after 3 disastrous qualifying runs. In the finals, running from last on the grid, BC worked his way up to 2nd in leg 1 and took the win in the nail-biting final lap after race leader Png made a mistake and clipped a corner. Png would take the second leg with a comfortable lead over BC but in leg 3, BC managed to clear through the traffic early on and take the final leg and overall win. Racing again after a break, Paul Martin put in an exceptionally consistent performance to take 3rd spot on the podium.
