Ronald Völker wins TC Modified at German nationals
Last weekend the German touring car nationals took place at the MRC Leipzig track. The race was run under changing weather conditions and after the five qualifiers Ronald Völker (Yokomo) took the pole position for the finals after winning three qualifying rounds but he was tie on points with Serpent’s Marc Fischer who TQ’d in the second and the fifth qualifier. Marc Rheinard put his Tamiya on the third spot with Frederik Südhoff (Awesomatix) and Christopher Krapp (Kyosho) in tow. The finals proofed to be a tough affair for the pole sitter who came in two seconds on front of Marc Rheinard in the first A final. Marc Fischer took third and Yannic Prümper fourth – all four being within around 3.5 seconds when crossing the finish line.
The second final had Marc Rheinard taking the win only six tenth of a second on front of Yannic who was chased by Frederik. Both Marc Fischer and Ronald Völker scored a DNF after they had to retire around the 3:30 and 4:45 minute mark respectively. This made the final leg the decider of the national with Ronald and Marc being the two candidates for the top spot on the podium. The race was super close and had Ronald taking the third A final by three thousands of a second from Marc Fischer handing the 2013 EFRA European Champion and 2012/13 ETS winner also the win of the national title. After a third place in the final leg three times World Champion Marc Rheinard secured himself the runner-up spot with Marc Fischer completing the podium.
