Rivkin, Phend & Cavalieri win at 2016 Cactus Classic
The 30th Annual Cactus Classic race was held this past weekend in Phoenix, Arizona and it saw a nice mixture of drivers battling it out for the top spots in the Modified classes. 2WD Modified Buggy had TQ Spencer Rivkin (Team Associated) taking the winning honours, coming from the TQ spot, from TLR’s Dakotah Phend and Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri. Runner-up after the qualifiers, Jared Tebo, had to settle for fourth.
In the 4WD Modified Buggy category it was again the TQ holder who came out fastest, but Dakotah Phend (TLR) had to go through to the third A-main to secure the title after winning the opening A-main and coming in fourth in A2. Carson Wernimont (Yokomo) would take the win in A2 but three second place finished of Jared Tebo (Kyosho) and a fourth and six place run would mean the third place overall for Carson behind Jared. In the highly contested Modified Truck class it was again the TQ holder who came out fastest after the qualifiers as Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated) took the title with one leg to spare. Naoto Matsukura (Kyosho), coming from the 4 spot on the grid, left team mate Jared Tebo (Kyosho) behind in third place.
