BRCA F2 national off-road championships – Report

The BRCA 2WD and 4WD national off-road F2, Veteran and Junior championships were held this weekend at the large and well prepared track at Boughton Raceway. The Junior and Veteran classes were split into age groups of U13, U16, V40 and V50. Qualifying the 2WD F2 class would be a battle between Jonathon Brown and Andy Jones. Andy Jones took three rounds of qualifying giving him TQ with Jonathon taking the 2nd spot, Nick Oliver taking 3rd and Tristram Neal taking 4th.

Widmeier wins German 1/8th nitro buggy junior title

Serpent’s newly signed Micha Widmeier has won the 2014 German 1/8th nitro buggy junior title at last weekend’s Munich round of the championship. After coming in 5th a week ago at the first race in Landhut and finishing 18th during the second and final round in Munich last weekend, Micha ended up on a combined 8th place in the overall championship. This result handed him the title as the best junior in the 2014 national championship.

Xray Challenge Hungary – Announcement

Xray announce the Xray Challenge Hungary for the weekend of the 7th of September. The race will be held at the World-famous Hungaroring track and sees the running of modified and stock 1/10th electric touring car classes as well 1/10th 200mm nitro, 1/8th nitro and 1/5th large scale racing. Swedish nitro on-road championships – Report

The annual Swedish nitro on-road championships took place at the Staffanstorp Raceway close to Malmö in the South of Sweden. Drivers came from all over Sweden and also some guest drivers from Denmark and Norway made the trip to compete with the best Swedish drivers. Saturday morning started with a dry track despite some rain on Friday evening, but during practice and in the first round of qualifying the rain came back. At the end only the final round of qualifiers would count as a dry round for all drivers.

Rainer Ressar wins 1/8th class at Baltic Champs

This year’s Baltic Championships were held at the Peleka-Cuka track with some of the best racers from the Baltic states in attendance. The 1/8th nitro buggy final was highly affected by the weather conditions that changed massively throughout the whole weekend. In the beginning the race was lead by pole position holder Hendrik Lainemae followed by Taurius Sinkevicius. With the rain coming and going, Rainer Ressar, who fall back early in the race, made the best out of the difficult conditions as he climbed up the field to take the 2nd spot in the closing stages of the final despite a broken wheel due to contact with a concrete track marker. A few laps later 1st place driver Hendirk made an error causing a flameout, handing Rainer the lead. At the end he won the race a lap ahead of Taurius Sinkevicius and Martin Steins, who rounded out the podium in 3rd.

Wenger, Calvo & Eschler win at MC-Best Cup

Round 9 and 10 of the Swiss MC-Best Cup were held last weekend. Round 9, taking place on Saturday in dry conditions, had Martin Wenger taking the win in the 1/10th 200mm nitro class ahead of Nuno Santos and Silvio Scheidegger. Round 10 on Saturday started dry but then strong rain came up. Marco Calvo made the best out of the conditions and he took the win in the 200mm class in front of Donato Larocca and Marco Schwab. In the 1/8th class Stephan Eschler came out successful in front of Andrej Bostjancic and Beat Heiniger.

Ben Ellis doubles at Monsters of the Midwest Rd4

Round 4 of the Monsters of the Midwest series was planned to take place at JCP-RC Raceways massive outdoor location in Edinburgh, Indiana last weekend, “planned” being the key word. Mother Nature had different plans however. Rain showers over the course of Saturday morning continued to threaten the event, leaving the series organisers one decision, go inside. JCP-RC Raceways primary Indianapolis location, located just 40 minutes north of the Edinburgh facility, plays host to one of the states largest indoor facilities. Competing in the 2WD Buggy, and 2WD SCT classes, JConcepts team driver Ben Ellis was able to adjust quickly to the change of plans, and was able to secure the TQ and win in both classes. Round 5 of the Monsters of the Midwest Series heads north to Stateline RC Raceway in Freemont, Indiana on Saturday September 13th.

Mike Garrison wins at Awesome August 2014

As the summer months are winding down, midwest racers are beginning to hang up the 1/8 scales and prepare for the 1/10 scale winter season. Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, Missouri hosted the Awesome August 2014 event this past weekend, providing racers one final 1/8 scale race before turning their focus to the upcoming ROAR 1/10 Region 8 Championships later this month. The largest class of the weekend was the 1/8 E-Buggy class. TLR’s Mike Garrison would take the overall TQ spot in qualifying, and carried on to win the E-Buggy final from start to finish. Local racers Marc Moody (Mugen) and Sam Reed (Team Durango) would finish out the podium.
