Kurzbuch tops Q1 from Pietsch in Germany

Simon Kurzbuch has TQ’d the opening round of qualifying at Round 3 of the ENS in Germany.  A very closely fought 4-minute qualifier, the Shepherd driver would top the times just ahead of Mugen’s Robert Pietsch by 0.38 of a second.  A bit of a gap back, Capricorn’s Dario Balestri would complete the Top 3 ahead of Shepherd team-mates Rick Vrielijnck, Oliver Mack and Francesco Tironi.

Greiner takes opening qualifier at ENS

Dominic Greiner has taken the first round of qualifying at the Euro Nitro Series in Germany.  The Serpent driver topped the times from Shepherd’s Dirk Wischnewski, the two Germans considerable faster than their rivals over the 4-minute qualifier around the Ettlingen track.  Behind them Patrick Nahr would post the third fastest time just ahead of Teemu Leino. After a good showing in practice when he posted the fourth fastest time, unfortunately for reigning champion Eric Dankel an engine cut 1-minute in would ruin his qualifier.

Pietsch leads the way in Ettlingen

Robert Pietsch appears to be the man to beat at Round 3 of the Euro Nitro Series, setting the pace in the first timed practice at Ettlingen.  The Mugen driver was 2/10th faster than new Shepherd signing Rick Vrielijnck who in turn was 2/10ths faster than Alberto Picco, the top three all using Picco engines.  Almost matching Picco’s pace fellow Italian Dario Balestri was fourth fastest ahead of championship returnee Oliver Mack.  For defending champion Simon Kurzbuch his run was hampered by the loss of a front shock spring retainer and he would post the 21st fastest time.

Wischnewski tops first timed practice at ENS

Dirk Wischnewski has topped the first timed practice at Round 3 of the Euro Nitro Series in Germany.  Mastering the Minidrom Ettlingen’s ‘strange’ track conditions the best, the Shepherd driver set the fastest 3-laps ahead of the HB of Round 2 winner Teemu Leino.  Top Qualifier in Austria, Serpent’s Dominc Greiner completed the Top 3 ahead of Capricorn team-mates Thilo Tödtmann and Eric Dankel.  Joint championship leaders Bruno Coelho and Jilles Groskamp would post only the 9th and 14th fastest times respectively.

Record 160+ Entries for German ENS

Ettlingen

The Euro Nitro Series travels to Ettlingen in Germany this weekend (17-19 July) with Round 3 of the onroad nitro championship attracting an impressive 160 plus entries. The first time the ENS has visited the recently resurfaced track, it is Round 2 first time winners Simon Kurzbuch and Teemu Leino who head the high quality field. With no one yet marking their dominance on the second season of the high profile championship the opening rounds producing different Top Qualifiers and winners in both 1:8 and 1:10, this weekend is set to be no different as drivers and teams aim for the top step of the podium on Sunday evening.

Abrahamek takes 200mm class at Laszlo Memory race

The Laszlo Memory race was recently held in Austria with drivers from Slivakia, Hungary, Slovenia and Austria in attendance. In the 200mm class Michal Abrahamek took the TQ after the qualifiers and he then went on to win a super close A-main thanks to a good race strategy. Gergely Csekö came in 2nd while Gergö Lehner rounded out the top 3 result.

Dutch 1/8th Nitro On-road Championship Rd3 - Report

Round three of the Dutch 1/8th Nitro On-road Championship was held at the track of the Model Racing Genk club. During the last heat of the opening qualifier rain started to fall and due to the declaration as a wet race many drivers were forced to run also the second and third round in order to qualify for the finals. In the main final of the Top class it was Gunther Van Staey (Serpent) who was able to pull away right from the start of the race, setting some very fast laps and showing again his good form this year. Gunther was able to dominate the race and he finished 1 lap in front of reigning EC 40+ champion Frank Baggen (ARC) who is currently in a strong position for the title of the Dutch National Champion. Frank was followed by ARC team mate Ad Vissenberg, who confirmed his good result of the Groningen round and who now bumped up to second place in the overall ranking. In the second category of the weekend, the Nomac Cup class, it was local veteran racer Ad Moelands who took the win in the partly wet final. He was followed by Addie Van de Ven and Stephan van Rooijen in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

King & Drake win at JBRL Nitro Series Rd4

Round four of this year’s Jimmy Babcock Racing League Nitro Series was hosted by Revelation Raceway with around 180 entries and the usual mixture of World-class drivers and local talent. In the Expert Nitro Buggy class Kyosho’s Cody King came out successful to take a back-to-back win. Team Associated’s Kody Numedahl finished on the runner-up spot while JQRacing’s Jeremy Kortz rounded out the top 3 result.
