Mugen Seiki MBX8R Eco EP 1/8th buggy

With the success of the MBX8R kit, Mugen Seiki is now offering a MBX8R Eco that includes many of the same parts from the MBX8R. The team at Mugen Seiki spent a lot of time testing and developing the MBX8R geometry in race conditions throughout 2021, which lead to many major victories resulting in the MBX8R Eco having many new parts to increase stability, rear traction, improved jumping, and have a wide tuning range. The suspension has seen new suspension mounts and geometry, new longer box-shaped suspension arms and arm stiffeners as well as a new front shock tower and upper front arm mount that uses new pivot inserts for increased tuneability. The MBX8R Eco chassis features a slightly new design to accommodate the new suspension geometry while on top there is a new battery mount for 4S shorty and standard batteries. High Traction Differentials are included in the MBX8R Eco. The Mugen Seiki HTD provides increased acceleration, longer runtime, and more consistent handling. A lightweight high down-force wing allows more air to flow to improve jumping while a revised rear wing mount will provide additional downforce and increase durability. Other final updates include new sway bar collars to reduce sway bar movement, emulsion shock caps, aluminium wing button and updated centre diff cover with holes for lightening.

ProTek R/C Samurai RM Maifield Edition 3-port engine

ProTek R/C have announced their new Samurai RM Maifield Edition 3-port .21 competition nitro engine, the engine which dominated last week’s Dirt Nitro Challenge. The Maifield Edition combines features hand picked by ProTek R/C team driver Ryan Maifield, with the proven race winning performance of the ProTek Samurai platform. It features a unique backplate with steel insert to reduce friction which helps to provide increased conrod lifespan, a more stable idle and higher RPM, while also eliminating the risk of aluminium debris in the engine due to backplate wear. The RM Edition is paired with the proven “high power” 21j carburettor and long stroke configuration, making it a great option for large track 1/8 nitro buggy and 1/8 nitro truck racing. A low CG 9 fin “RM” cooling head, 3 port sleeve and ceramic rear bearing round out the package to create a pro-level engine that delivers the power and performance needed to win, with the reliability required to compete at the highest levels of competition.

Avid Truss 1/8th truck wheel 4.0”

The Avid Truss 1/8th truck wheel is another innovation by Avid RC. The wheel is extremely important to the overall handling of your vehicle and is often overlooked. Avid took all the unique high-performance features from their 1/8th scale buggy wheel and placed them directly into this design. They also went back to the drawing board on reformulating the material to best withstand the brutally cold weather that racers are now willing to race in. Looking inside the wheel you will see where it gets the name ‘Truss’. The internal ribbing uses the strength of triangles instead of having straight ribs. The focus of the Truss starts at the centre of the wheel, so the tighter triangles help keep the torque strength right where you want it when applying all your throttle, at the nut. Available in yellow and white.

Eldridge & Payne win Rd5 of EssexCarpetClash

Round 5 of EssexCarpetClash4 took place last Sunday, and the drivers entered the venue to a slightly untraditional track layout compared to normal. With the straight in the centre of the track, a cross over and a larger jump for this round, it was a ‘Marmite’ track for the drivers. After heated practice, the 4 rounds of qualifying started with the best 2 to count. Harley Eldridge got to grips with the track straight away taking the top spot in all rounds. Stephen Brown would line up second with Steven Kelly in 3rd beating Lee Hedges on a better time. 2wd saw a number of drivers at the top of the timing sheets, but it was Ollie Payne, that took pole for the final by taking TQ in the first 2 rounds. Billy Fletcher tied on round points with Klye Moon would line up 2nd on the grid having a better round time.
