Reflex Racing RR12V2 1/12th scale pan car kit

Reflex Racing RR12V2 1/12th scale pan car kit

Following the recent introduction of the RSD RR12V2 conversion kit, Reflex Racing now also released information on the RR12V2 full kit. The car is based on a new chassis made of 2.3mm quasi weave carbon fibre for improved stiffness, a lower weight and a lower centre of gravity. An updated pod geometry with the pivot 2mm further forward provides more corner speed and less lift while allowing for more aggressive settings. Also new is the battery securing systems that provides tape-less transverse of inline mounting of the 1S pack. Another new feature is a revised side spring placement with optional, more in board positions to aid in a softer roll control for high bite conditions. Lastly, the new front end is Reflex Racing’s icing on the cake. A new, light weight double A-arm front end is included in the kit. This system is incorporating a suspension system that is 10 to 15g lighter than the traditional AE front ends, it is easier to adjust and versatile enough to run as a double A-arm or traditional reverse McPherson strut. The car will be offered in two trims, as full kit minus electronics, wheels, tires, servo saver and fluids and also as full conversion including RSD front end. The latter needs a donor car for diff, tubes, shock, and ball ends.

Mickael Brandt wins at Swedish On-road Cup

Mickael Brandt wins at Swedish On-road Cup

The final round of the Swedish On-road Cup was recently held at the MK Eskils track, host of next year’s EFRA 1/8th On-road Euros. The qualifying of the 1/10th 200mm class had Mickael Brandt coming out fastest from second placed Nicolai Hvid and third placed Jose Castro. Before the start the TQ holder ran into trouble due to a dying transmitter battery but a quickly borrowed pack got him on track in time. The start then went ok for Mickael but his nerves got the better of him and he almost got caught by the field. Mickael managed to cool down and he began to pull away quickly and some 25 minutes into the race he had managed to open a gap of several laps to the second place driver. A quick pit stop for tyres didn’t change much and while conserving the lead Mickael lost focus a bit and clipped a curb which cost him the 1st gear on his car. During the repair his pit crew forgot to refuel and so he soon after flamed out but he still had a 3-lap lead only to clip another curb which send his car on the roof. The following flameout cost Brandt the lead that was promoted to a happy Jose. While chasing the leader Mickael scored the fastest lap of the race with a 30.7 and after the final pitstop both were racing tail to bumper. With a pass on the straight Mickael regained the lead that he was able to conserve it until the end to take the win from Jose Castro and Hans Elmerfors. Rune Stokka and Ake Törnros rounded out the top 5 result.

Cole Ogden wins at Southern Nationals

Cole Ogden wins at Southern Nationals

The Southern Nationals were held over the weekend in Louisiana. In the Pro Buggy class Cole Ogden (TLR) took the TQ in the first two rounds of qualifying. The start of the main final then was a toss up; people were switching spots and wrecking everywhere. Cole cased the back double and lost the lead to Ryan Lutz (Tekno) on the first lap, only to regain it after dodging a wreck on the front straight. Cole continued to stretch his lead and lapped the field at about 20 minutes. Around that time, he made small mistake and flipped upside down, the marshall slipped and almost fell on Ogden’s car but stuffed his pipe in the process. Cole flamed out, got refired and got back on the track right in front of the epic second place battle between J.R. Mitch (TLR) and Joe Bornhorst (Tekno). Ultimately Cole maintained a good lead till the finish to take the win from Ryan Lutz in second and Joe Bornhorst in third.

JConcepts Outdoor Turf Nationals – Report

JConcepts Outdoor Turf Nationals – Report

RC Madness in Enfield, CT, hosted to the first ever Outdoor Turf Nationals. The dedicated track and facility with one of the first Turf tracks in the United States offered up a challenge to all. As title sponsor, JConcepts offered a unique experience to the racer offering controlled (soon to be revealed astro/carpet) tires in the buggy classes while all other available classes used an open tire. Practice began on Friday afternoon after just a little weather had passed though the surrounding area. Jason Ruona and Alex Kosciuszek were among the early test drivers sorting out setup and learning the new layout. As the sun came out over the bright green racing surface, traction immediately came up and the racers were smiling. As the day moved on, racers practised in classes ranging from 17.5 Buggy to Stadium and SCT truck and while the buggies dominated the entry count the trucks appeared to be just as enticing as the buggies.
