Kyosho KF01 GP Formula 1 chassis

Kyosho KF01 GP Formula 1 chassis

Kyosho have released details on their new gas powered Formula 1 chassis, the KF01. The simple flat pan chassis is made from 3mm thick aluminium for strength and durability. Up front, the upper wishbone length is adjustable to allow you to change the angle of the front kingpin to change the car’s camber, while the rear end features the same axle suspension system as on the Spada. The body supplied is based on the popular 90’s design which handles extremely well, while the lightweight wings help the overall handling of the car. The supplied Sirio 09 engine provides plenty of power while the special compact exhaust system does a great job of muffling the engine’s noise.

Drake takes buggy & truggy win at JBRL Rd2

Drake takes buggy & truggy win at JBRL Rd2

Round 2 of the JBRL Nitro Series was this past weekend at Revelation Raceway and attracted 200 entries. The track was fun and flowing, it made for incredible racing.  The Buggy final saw Adam Drake in his Novarossi powered 8ight 2.0 start from pole but a small mistake on lap one caused Drake to fall back a few spots. Within a couple of laps Adam was battling up front with Mark Pavidis for the lead before Mark made a mistake and Adam took over the lead and started to pull away from the field. The race looked to be in the bag, but a fueling mistake in the pits caused a flameout to Drake’s car, his pit man was able to get him fired and out of the pits without giving up the lead. Drake won the final followed by Pavidis in second, and Castellano in third. In the Truggy final, Drake once again had TQ’d and was followed closely by Cody King. The pair checked out and stretched a lead on the rest of the field. Adam’s pit strategy forced Cody to push hard to make up time and seemed to cause him to make too many mistakes. Drake took home the victory, followed by Cody King in second and Drew Moller in third.

Robin d’Hondt wins Dutch 2nd round

Robin d'Hondt wins Dutch 2nd round

Round 2 of the Dutch 1/8th scale nationals was held last weekend on the fast MAC de Baanbrekers track in Rucphen, and fast it was, on the Saturday the fast guys like Van Gastel, d’Hondt, Ermen and Rick V were driving laps under 13.0 seconds giving an example how the competition will be. On Sunday it was dry but the track was still a bit slippery at some points because of the rain the night before which caused a lot of braking problems and one or two serious crashes and the track was for sure not as fast as on Saturday.

Marco Mueller takes Rd2 in Switzerland

Marco Mueller takes Rd2 in Switzerland

Last weekend saw the second round of Swiss 1/8th scale National Championship take place in Aigle, on a very technical track, renamed this year the Sebastien Buemi Circuit and factory Motonica racer Mattia Pesenti sent us this report. Saturday morning we had just 30-45 minutes to practice because the track was wet and in the afternoon we started with the qualifying rounds. I had a perfect car and I had a really good feeling with it and had the pole position for the first two rounds before round 1 winner Shasa Lackner had a really fast round doing 24 laps in 7’17’’ leaving myself and Marco Mueller in 2nd and 3rd with 23 laps.

Lee Martin takes 4wd National Rd2 win

Lee Martin takes 4wd National Rd2 win

oOple are reporting that Lee Martin took his second 4WD national win of the 2010 season at the second round of the series held at the Robinhood Raceway. Lee won the opening round of qualifying but it was Paul Bradby that dominated the rest of the days qualifying by taking the next three rounds with his Associated car to take the TQ spot in front of Lee Martin and James Heliwell. Lee took the opening leg of the A final after Paul Bradby had a car problem while in the lead and had to retire on lap 6. Paul fought back to win leg two so things went to the final leg. Lee and Paul fought hard for the full 5 minutes, swapping the lead several times before Lee managed to take the leg and with it the win. Bradby finished second overall and Tom Cockerill, winner of the 2wd round, third. Expect a full report on oOple soon.
