1/10th European B Championships – Day 5

Today (friday) was the first day of qualifying for the 1/10th 200mm ‘B’ Championships held in Roeselare, Belgium this week. After 3 rounds, with 1 still left to run on Saturday morning, it was young Italian Serpent racer Alessio Mazzeo who is on the overnight pole position, 2 seconds in front of German Mugen racer Eric Dankel, while 3rd place sees Xray driver Walti Beat of Switzerland. Our man in Belgium Youri Mestdag has once again supplied us with a nice report and photos, and as today is qualifying we get round by round reporting.

Today we started with the first qualifying rounds for this European championship. A little bit cloudy today, but no rain for now. Lets see how the drivers have been doing today.

Round 1
The Swiss driver, Walti Beat, started with a very good run this morning and takes the first place after the first round. The Dutchman, Daan Jacobs, has taken second place after his first run. Followed by Gareth Bell in third place.

Round 2
We had some drops of rain during heat 6 of round 2, but this hadn’t any influence on the drivers performance. Eric Dankel and Mazzeo Alessio made their first good qualifying run for today. Also Daniel Tomaschko made an excellent run with 20 laps in 5:15.676.

Round 3
No rain anymore. That looks excellent for tomorrow. Most of the top 10 drivers even made a better run in their third qualifying run.

Conclusion after round 3
Mazzeo in the lead, followed by some real good drivers. I looks like it will be a close race tomorrow morning during the last qualifying round.
