Logie & Bultynck win Belgian Nats Rd3

The 3rd round of the Belgian Championships went to the marvellous Marchienne-au-Pont track, near Charleroi, with sunny weather greeting the drivers for most of the two days. In the Superstock class it was Nick Logie who won in the first two qualifications and took pole, followed by championship leaderGeoffrey Vekemans with Marc Tebaldi in 3rd. The first final was a walk over for Nick Logie, despite making a little mistake he could take victory in front of Marc Tebaldi and Renaud Gysemberg. The second final was very close with Nick taking over the lead closely followed by Marc Tebaldi with the pair battling till the end with Nick winning once again. The third final, which was not necessary for Nick who had already wrapped up the overall, saw him make a little mistake that allowed Marc Tebaldi to take the lead and go on to win in front of Stephane Roufosse and Nick Logie. Nick Logie was overall winner in front of Marc Tebaldi and Renaud Gysemberg.

In the EFRA class a close battle was expected between championship leader Benoit Thomaes and Olivier Bultynck who had the same points in the series. The first qualification was the most important, the track was very fast and Olivier Bultynck took the fastest time in front of Benoit Thomaes and an amazing Gerrit Van Swijgenhoven with his new Corally car. The second qualification was Benoit Thomaes faster than Olivier Bultynck and Nick Joosens in third place. In the third qualification we saw that Manuel Henriet, Patrick Jespers and Yves Zoma were faster and took a better time and so Olivier Bultynck took the pole, with Benoit Thomaes in second and Nick Joosens in 3rd. In the first final, Olivier Bultynck very fast on the track and could win from Benoit Thomaes. In the second final there was a close battle with Olivier in front of Benoit and it looked like Olivier would win but his battery dumped, as did Benoit’s, but Olivier also made a little mistake and Benoit could hold on for the win in front of Olivier and Manuel Henriet third. Five minutes before the start of the third final it began to rain. The race director called the race as a wet race and four guys took to the track which saw Manuel Henriet emerge the winner in front of Olivier Bultynck and Nick Joosens. Following this the overall went to Olivier Bultynck with Benoit Thomaes in 2nd place and Manuel Henriet on the third step of the podium.
