Former 1/6th large-scale off-road European Champion Kay Koops has joined Serpent to run the company’s Cobra 1/8th buggy. Kay will run the Dutch Buggy-Cup and he also plans to attend the Neo race and 2013 European Championships.

Xray introduce the 40T active front differential for the XB9 off-road buggy. The adjustable gear diff sports a special design with angled internal segments that let the unit engage more in on-power situations in order to increase forward traction and stability and to make the buggy faster and easier to drive.

Serpent have released his strong tool bag featuring quality Serpent graphics. The bag can carry your full range of tools, all of which are secured neatly through the use of elastics loops. Sized at 287mm x 235mm x 45mm it features a high quality zipper and padded carrying handle.
Last weekend saw the fourth round of the Madeira regional track Championships. Race day was characterized by constant changing weather causing the drivers to constantly work on tire choice and the tuning of their cars. The day began with warm temperatures, making the first round of qualifying for the 1/10th 200mm class the fastest. Luis Cortez set the fastest time with 22 laps in 5 minutes and 21 seconds, followed by Luis Angelo and Mario Oliveira about 5 seconds.

The 4th stop of the Short Course Showdown Nationwide Tour was run last weekend at Tacoma RC in Washington State. The weekend started out on Thursday with practice and a small club race that night. The track is run wet in the morning and then swept between rounds all day long. We found the best compound for this surface would be gold compound. For the 2wd class we ran Bar Codes rear and Pressure Points up front. For 4wd, there were some guys on Bar Codes front and rear and others on Pressure Point front and rear.

Alien Racing have introduced a new conversion kit for the Yokomo R12 1/12th scale chassis which allows you to place the battery in longitudinally. The main chassis is 4mm longer and the central shock is now moved 12mm further forward. The rear body mounts have also been moved 4mm further forward to reduce the spacing between the front and rear posts. Other changes include the ability to remove the pack without removing the plates and due to the new layout the weight distribution between the left and right is improved.

Hosted by the Monsummano Terme track in Italy, the UISP Italian Championships have been won for the 4th consecutive year by Mirko Bianchi (Mugen/White TBR 2.0/Diavel fuel/Strike bodies) followed by Simone Fanti (Associated) in 2nd and Daniele Chicca (JQ) in 3rd. In the F2 category Simone Presta Asciutto also of Team Bianchi took the title followed by Fiorenza Giovanni and Michelucci Christian in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Round 3 of this years’ Schumacher BTCC Championship was held at the Halifax track, which was a miracle seeing only 7 days before it was under about 3 feet of water what a great job John and the committee have done to get the track into a condition where it could be used. The weather forecast for the day showed showers and at the drivers briefing it was decided that the format for the day would be 5 rounds of round by round qualifying the best 2 to count followed by 1 final.
