Bornhorst & Viesins take wins at AMS 5.0
During last weekend’s Alabama Manufacturers Shootout 5.0 in Cullman, Alabama, TLR’s Adam Drake took the TQ in the highly contested 1/8th E-Buggy class. On the start of A1 Drake fall back early on but Serpent driver Joe Bornhorst inherited the lead and tried to put some space between him and the pack. Team Durango’s Ryan Lutz slowly chipped away on his lead though and the two took it down to the last corner, with Bornhorst taking the win. A2 had TQ Adam Drake out in front with Bornhost and Lutz in tow for the first few laps. Drake bobbled, giving Bornhorst the lead with the two would later have coming together on the straight allowing Lutz to capitalize and to take the lead. Lutz then ran out front trying to get some distance on the field. Bornhorst chipped away on his lead and took the lead with about 2 minutes to go after Lutz tapped a pipe. Bornhorst fend off a late charge from Drake taking A2 and the overall win while Ryan Lutz came in 2nd overall. JQ completed the podium in 3rd.
The E-Truggy class had Chris Viesins TQ 2 out of the 3 rounds of qualifying for which secured him the overall TQ spot. In A1 Viesins managed to lead throughout the whole race to take the win, something he was also able to do in A2 to take the overall win in the 1/8 E-Truggy class.
