Drake sweeps Alabama Manufacturer Shootout 5.0

Drake sweeps Alabama Manufacturer Shootout 5.0

The Alabama Manufacturer Shootout event in Cullman, Alabama, continues to be one of the most well-known races on the calendar during the Summer racing season. The AMS 5.0 event had a record 600 entries, race directors Jimmy Babcock and Canyon Thompson kept the program running smooth all weekend while the AMS crew built a very technical layout that held extremely well. Qualifying in the Pro classes was dominated by Adam Drake.  Drake was the overall TQ in 1/8th Nitro Buggy, 1/8th Nitro Truck, and 1/8th Electric buggy.

The first Pro Nitro main to hit the track was the 1/8th Truck A-final. Top qualifier, Adam Drake started out front and pulled a sizeable lead over Tyler Jones, Ryan Lutz, and Cody Smith. After the first pit stop Jones had a flameout and Drake continued to stretch his lead. In the end Drake won the 45 minute final by more than a lap over team mate Cody Smith and Joe Bornhorst rounded out the top three.

Early in the Pro Nitro Buggy main top qualifier Adam Drake was challenged by Derek Weatherholt and Tyler Jones, but just like in the truck final Drake settled into a groove and pulled away from the competition and won the final by a lap and a half over TLR teammates Tyler Jones and Cole Ogden.
