Shay Brand doubles at Tennessee State Champs
This past weekend the Tennessee State Championship race was held at ROCCK Racing in Knoxville, TN with an amazing crowd of over 160 racers from all over the Southeast. Shay Brand TQ’d all three rounds of Pro E-Buggy to take the overall TQ. After some really close qualifying battles with Dylan Gerard in both Truggy and Buggy, Shay was able to take the final round and get the TQ in those classes as well.
The 30 minute Pro Buggy main started off good for Shay, but after a few laps he made a mistake and dropped back into the pack. Shay was able to work his way up from about 7th place back to the top, where he would be able to hold the lead and take the overall win.
The Pro E-Buggy race was very close between Shay and Losi driver Austin Hughes. After making a mistake early, Shay had to fight his way back up, and was also able to take the win in Pro E-Buggy.
In the Pro Truggy main Shay started off good, holding onto first, with Dylan right on his bumper for the first 5 minutes. Shay was then knocked off the track into a metal rail by a lapped truck, ending his run early.
