Austrian 1/10th Buggy Nationals Rd3 – Report

Last weekend the third round of the Austrian 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals was held in Steyregg near Linz. 67 entries split in the two classes of 2WD and 4WD buggy and Saturday’s practice was interrupted by some rain but thanks to the concrete and clay surface the first qualifying run could be held before the night kicked in. Sunday started off with three more qualifying rounds followed by triple mains. In the 2WD class Hupo Hönigl was able to grab the TQ honours in the final round to take the pole position from Marcel Rekettye and Stefan Pfeifhofer who scored a TQ run each.

In the 4WD class Martin Kreil snatched the TQ from Hupo Hönigl while Stefan Pfeifhofer rounded out the top 3 as he did in 2WD.

The finals of the 2WD class were a pretty easy task for Hupo who took the overall victory. Behind him the remaining podium spots were hard fought for with the better end for Yokomo’s Marcel Rekettye in 2nd and Team C’s Martin Kreil in 3rd with the latter being tie on points with Team Associated’s Stefan Pfeifhofer.

In the 4WD class Martin was able to win the first final despite some pretty severe pressure of Hupo, and in the second final a broken bearing stopped Hupo’s chase for the win so the overall victory went to Martin Kreil. In the third A-main a small mistake of Hupo over the corner table allowed Peter Pinisch to grab the runner-up spot while Hupo rounded out the podium in 3rd.

The forth and final round will be held in Oberaich in September.
