BRCA Touring Car Series Rd3 – Report

BRCA Touring Car Series Rd3 – Report

The third round of the BRCA Touring Car Series took place hosted by the long established Stafford club over the weekend and saw one of the closest fought and unpredictable races for many seasons, but coming out on top were two Schumacher drivers in the form of Colin Price in modified and James Hart in Stock. In Modified Elliott Harper took TQ and leg one of the Modified A final and looked on course to score his first win since moving to Schumacher for 2015, but in leg two and three Elliott seemed to lose his performance advantage and was swallowed up by the chasing pack, Associated’s Chris Grainger took advantage in leg two and in leg three Colin Price took the leg and with it the win, the top three of Price, Grainger and Xray’s Olly  Jefferies tied on points but the tie breaker fell in favour of Price giving him his second ever UK national win.

Modified top 5 result:
1. Colin Price – Schumacher
2. Chris Grainger – Associated
3. Olly Jefferies – Xray
4. Zak Smith – Team Associated
5. Elliott Harper – Schumacher

In 13.5 Boosted Stock James Hart took TQ ahead of defending Stock champion Zak Finlay, Zak left his challenge late after seeming to struggle for pace on day one. Leg one went to Hart while Finlay took leg two setting up a classic final leg. In the final leg both drivers circulated never more than a cars length apart, James did enough to stay ahead and took the third leg and the overall win. Local driver and another Schumacher driver Andy Robson completed the podium.

Stafford proved to be a happy hunting ground for UK Manufacturer Schumacher and the result has set up a tight second half to the season in the Modified class with a number of drivers still in the hunt for the title, in Stock Hart needs another win to really challenge Finlay as the championship moves to Halifax next month. The junior classes were well supported and the meeting saw some stunning performance from the under 17’s and under 13’s. Round four at Halifax takes place in 8th August.
