Dutch 1/8th Nitro On-road Championship Rd3 – Report
Round three of the Dutch 1/8th Nitro On-road Championship was held at the track of the Model Racing Genk club. During the last heat of the opening qualifier rain started to fall and due to the declaration as a wet race many drivers were forced to run also the second and third round in order to qualify for the finals. In the main final of the Top class it was Gunther Van Staey (Serpent) who was able to pull away right from the start of the race, setting some very fast laps and showing again his good form this year. Gunther was able to dominate the race and he finished 1 lap in front of reigning EC 40+ champion Frank Baggen (ARC) who is currently in a strong position for the title of the Dutch National Champion. Frank was followed by ARC team mate Ad Vissenberg, who confirmed his good result of the Groningen round and who now bumped up to second place in the overall ranking. In the second category of the weekend, the Nomac Cup class, it was local veteran racer Ad Moelands who took the win in the partly wet final. He was followed by Addie Van de Ven and Stephan van Rooijen in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
