Speed King Tour Rd4 – Report
The fourth round of the Speed King Tour 2015 was hosted by the Green Park Speedway in the Saitama prefecture last weekend. The track is a high-speed affair that is usually used for 1/8th races so the speeds achieved in the Modified class were pretty high. Series leader Akio Sobue again showed a brilliant form after scoring three wins in the series this year and he went on to take the TQ in this fourth round. Unfortunately only two qualifying rounds would be completed due to sudden and heavy rain fall but with the help of all competitors the track could be dried in time for the mains.
In the Modified class TRF driver Akio took lead with VBC’s Hayato Ishioka in town but Hayato made a mistake and gave his position to up and coming Jin Sawada (Yokomo). Up front Akio had comfortable lead but he got hit by a backmarker which cost him dearly. Jin took advantage of the situation and grabbed the race win, ending Akio’s winning streak. Akio finished second and Hayato was third. In the Stock class Takao Mitsumizo took the win from the pole position while in the newly introduced flat oval class it was Naito who came out successful.
The next round of the Speed King Tour 2015 will take place at the RC stadium Sodegaura Speedway in the Chiba prefecture on the 20th of September with the flat oval class being held again.
