Cavalieri wins at 6th Annual North-West Invitational
The 6th Annual North-West Invitational was held this past weekend at Dave’s R/C Tracks in Hubbard, Oregon, the home track of Team Orion USA team manager Joe Pillars. JP first started this annual event in 2010 and every year has gained more momentum by attracting top level drivers. Seven rounds of completely random heads-up racing would be ran in four heats of seven drivers. Then the final round would resort the drivers based on there five best finishes to group the heats with the fastest drivers all racing each other in the last race of the day.
After the dust had settled on Sunday, Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated) and Tanner Day (Kyosho) both finished with a perfect score of 6 wins. The tie-breaker would then go to each drivers two best combined laps and times where Cavalieri would take the overall win as he was the only driver to successful make it by for the 15th lap in several races. Tanner Day would finish an impressive 2nd overall for the 2nd year in a row, showing great speed all weekend. Joe Pillars (Kyosho) would finish only 2 points back from the tie for first to take third overall also for the 2nd straight year.
