Muchmore UK GP Series Rd2 – Report
The second round of the 2015 GP series, was hosted by the Carlisle Radio Model Car Club in the North West of England. The event runs four qualifying rounds on the Saturday with a further two on Sunday morning, followed by triple finals and featuring the five classes of Touring Car Modified, Pro-Stock, Spec, Mini and Formula. In Modified, Xray driver Peter Eagles repeated his success at last month’s round in Stonehaven and took the win in Modified from John Simpson (Schumacher) in second and Adam Howe (Team Durango) in third.
The Pro-Stock class runs a 13.5T brushless motor, with open speedo choice and each of the three leg finals finished in grid order with pole man Peter Craig taking the win with his Schumacher ahead of Chris Mitchell (HB) and Ian Willacy (Schumacher). The Spec class running 17.5T blinky would be the first of a double win across two classes for Mini ace driving legend, Paul Davidson. David Fraser took second followed by Tom Capri in third.
The GP support classes of Mini and F1 continue to grow in popularity, particularly with junior drivers but are also fiercely competed in by the “fast guys”. In the Mini class, local driver, Ian Willacy got close but there was no catching the guy with the T-shirt, Paul Davidson who drove with perfection all weekend to take first place with Ian in second and Chris Mitchell in third. Returning after some practice in Slovakia at the ETS meeting, Andrew Walters took the win in Formula from Peter Eagles and Chris Briggs. The second round of the 2015 GP series also determined the overall class champions for the Muchmore UK 2015 series with the Touring Car Modified being grabbed by Peter Eagles, Pro-Stock was won by Ian Willacy, the Spec class title went to David Fraser, the Mini category was on by Paul Davidson and the Formula class had Andrew Walters concluding the series in first place.
