ARC R8.0E 1/8th electric on-road car
Coming soon from ARC is the R8.0E 1/8th scale electric on-road kit. The electrified version of the popular R8.0 nitro car shares more that 80 percent of the parts with its nitro sibling while offering a purpose-designed layout with the drivetrain located between the saddle pack batteries. The chassis allows to use either 2S or 3S hardcase LiPo battery packs which are located as close to the centreline as possible for an improved weight distribution and maximised agility. The layout provides an ultra-low centre of gravity, a 50/50 left-to-right and 48/52 front-to-rear balance. The result is minimised chassis roll to make for better handling and a more balanced driving feel. Tests have shown that dual 2S packs and a 2200kv motor will accelerate the car to speeds of up to 85km/h while dual 3S batteries will propel the R8.0E to speeds of up to 115km/h, exceeding most nitro cars.
The lower chassis plate is made from 7075-T6 aluminium to provide strength and stability as well as much needed cooling surface for the motor. Included in the kit are also two Titan ultra-high speed fans and a solid fan mount while the suspension components are taken over from the nitro version. The drivetrain retains the same 3-belt system as the GP R8.0, with the side belt being moved down the centre line of the chassis. To make stocking parts easy both the belts and pulleys are taken over from the nitro-powered car. To reduce the weight of the R8.0E, light weight options are included in the kit as standard equipment. These include aluminium ball ends in place of the steel ball ends of the GP version, and aluminium rear dog bones. ARC will also have a conversion kit available in the future to allow nitro-version owners to try out electric power or to continue with practice in the off season.
