Asia On-road Championship Rd4 – Seeding Results
With open practice over here at round four of the Asia On-Road Championship at Tom Racing Circuit in Hong Kong and everyone putting in their finishing touches to their car setup, the seeding round was fun and exciting in every aspect. With only four minutes to set their fastest three consecutive laps, the two seeding rounds was still an all out battle on the clock. In the first round of seeding, Team Yokomo’s Ronald Volker was just able to eclipse the newly crowned European Champion, Alexander Hagberg by just 0.1 second.
However, as the track cooled off for the second round of seeding, Volker was able to find a few extra tenths and was able to string together three consecutive, near perfect laps that earned him the fastest seeding time with a combined 43.745. Hagberg was able to better his time as well in the second round of seeding with a 44.332 and retained second fastest. Singapore’s own Nicholas Lee was able to string together three fantastic laps and finished third in and more importantly only 0.1 second behind Hagberg.
In the ultra competitive 13.5 Boosted Sedan class, local favorite and Leespeed’s own Ian Lee was able to just edge out Yeung Wai Ho by a narrow margin of just a tenth of a second. Finishing third in seeding was Michael Lo, who was only 0.05 seconds behind Ho. With the margins being so close, tomorrow’s qualifying rounds will be guaranteed to be just as exciting as the seeding rounds.
Making his first appearance at an AOC race and all the way from Portland, Oregon Sven Boehringer set the fastest time in the 17.5 blinky class ahead of Ken Li and Hans Tang.
