Danish Electric On-road Nationals Rd1 – Report

The opening round of the Danish Electric On-road Nationals was held at the MMRC RC club in Tollose on a permanent and pretty high-speed track. The low temperatures made for changing grip conditions which was challenging for most of the drivers. In the Modified Touring Car class Steven Olsen (Schumacher) took the round TQ in the opening qualifier from Stefan Finnich (Xray). In the second round Mike Gosvig (Xray) came out fastest from Steven while Casper Morgan (Tamiya) came in third. In the third and final round it was again Mike who took the TQ to grab the pole position for the A-main while this time Casper came in second and Frederik Brolos (Yokomo) rounded out the top 3 result.

A-main one saw Mike having a good start and he was soon able to pull away, opening a gap on Steven and Casper. Later Casper would make a mistake, allowing Stefan to slip through into third place. The latter would then feel the pressure of Frederik as they battled for the third place but Frederik was even able to challenge Steven and both finished only three tenth of a second apart while Stefan had to settle for fourth. Up front Mike would take the win some seven seconds in front of Steven. In A2 Mike could again pull away from the field, and again Steven and Casper had a nice battle only until Casper made a mistake. This would let Stefan by and now he would try to follow Steven. At the end Stefan could hold onto the third place while being under pressure from Pelle Culmsee, but up front Mike again scored a pretty easy win to take the overall victory early. A3 was pretty much a blueprint for the pole setter who again scored a win while behind him things mixed up a bit. Ultimately Casper grabbed the second spot in the final leg while Frederik ended the race two tenth behind him in third. Steven would end the race in fourth after a mistake. Overall Mike would take the day’s win from Steven and Frederik.

In the Stock Touring Car class up and coming Casper Lund (Xray) did a great job by securing the TQ and the overall win from Bjarke Nyeskov (Xray) and Nicolai Nielsen (Serpent).

Finally in the Formula class Michael Præst (WRC) made the best out of the conditions as the tyres picked up a lot of carpet, making the cars hard to drive. Johnni Lyng (Xray) and Christian Lehm (Xray) would end the day in second and third respectively.
