Nick & Ethan Lefebvre take ROAR Region 9 titles
The ROAR Region 9 O-road Fuel Championships were held at RCRCNT, located just south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in Rendon, Texas. With nice weather and warm temperatures it was set to be a great weekend of racing. In the premier 1/8 Open class it was Nick Lefebvre taking the TQ position from fellow team driver Chris Methany. As with the sedan class, tire wear was very high and became a factor for the 30 minute final event. Off the start, Nick remained in the lead and began to pull away from Chris. On Lap 4, Terry Brown got around Chris and took over the 2nd spot. During Lap 11, Nick made a mistake and gave up the lead. After catching back up to Terry, Nick continued to press hard and eventually passed him for the lead. This is how the race continued and eventually ended with Nick winning while holding on to a 1 lap gap over both Terry and Chris.

In the 1/10 Fuel Touring Car class it was a battle for the top qualifying spot between Ethan Lefebvre and John Hodges. After the first two qualifiers, Ethan held the TQ spot with John 2nd. It the final qualifier, John was able to edge out Ethan and take over the TQ spot. This set up for a great 30 minute final. With tire wear very high over the weekend, pit and tire strategies came into play. As the race started, Ethan was able to get a strong start, take the lead, and start to pull away. At the 9 minute mark disaster struck for Ethan with a mistake that caused a roll over and a flame out. His pit crew went to work to recover the car and get it restarted. Once restarted, he was down two laps which moved him back to 3rd overall. As the race went on, John was running out of tires and had to come in for a change. This longer than normal pit stop allowed Ethan to get past John and then past the 2nd place driver, Pablo Tejada, to move back into the lead. Ethan, being set on cruise control and on tire management, finished in 1st place with a 2 lap lead.

With the double win, it gave the father/son team of Nick and Ethan, both ROAR Region 9 Championships for 2015.
