Peracho wins final round of Spanish 1/8th Champs
The final round of the Spanish Nitro On-road Championship was held at the Autet track. During qualifying the weather was excellent resulting in a close affair with a gap of only 3 seconds from 1st to 6th place in the 1/8th class. Alberto Alonso already secured the Spanish championship title at the penultimate round so the race was on for the runner-up spot. For Sunday the weather changed with some clouds and thunder storms predicted for the afternoon. First up was the 40+ final and it was Vicente Eres who took the victory.
At the start Peracho suffered a flame-out and had to start from the pitlane. When climbing up the order he was hit by another car and dropped again to the last position while Alonso was in 2nd position fighting with Victor Gonzales for the lead. Peracho didn’t give up and worked his way back to the front with an excellent drive. He took over the lead from Gonzalez at the 10 minute mark after a great fight. When Gonzalez had to retire because of technical issues, Peracho was able to switch to cruise mode as he had a good advantage over the remainder of the field. After 32 minutes the race was stopped by the officials because of a nearing thunderstorm and the race order was taken as the official result. Peracho would take the victory and he also was the only driver winning twice this season with Santeiro finishing 2nd and Olivares completing the podium in 3rd position.
