2015/16 Mibosport Cup Rd1 – Report
The popular 2015/16 Mibosport Cup kicked off this past weekend at the Hotel-Sport in Hrotovice. The weekend started out pretty untraditionally with practice all Friday on both the on-road and off-road track. The event saw a new record entry with a total of 254 drivers attending, of which 120 competed in the on-road classes. These divided into 42 Touring Car Modified drivers, 38 Stock LRP drivers, 21 Formula and 19 1/12th scale participants. A total of 134 drivers participated in the off-road classes with 73 drivers attending in 2WD Buggy and 61 drivers attending in 4WD Buggy. The Touring Modified class, which was run on the famous ETS carpet, was dominated by Ronald Völker. Ronald won all qualifying rounds to take the TQ ahead of Patrick Gollner and Martin Hudy.
In the first A-main, Ronald was quickly building a gap ahead of the fighting duo of Gollner and Hudy. It was a very tough battle until a small mistake of Patrick allowed Martin to gain an advantage and to bring home the second place. In A2 Ronald easily won, handing him the overall victory early. Patrick Gollner again would end the leg on the runner-up spot with Martin Hudy behind. The third and final A-main then was won by Patrick Gollner, as Ronald retired early in the race. Martin Hudy finished second ahead of Steven Weiss and so the podium was Ronald Völker on the first place with Patrick Gollner in second and Martin Hudy in third.
The three qualifying rounds of the Stock LRP class belonged to Austria’s Jürgen Horn but only with a margin of 0.346 secons ahead of Blazej Orlowski. Aleš Pelikán would place third on the grid. In the finals Blazej managed to win the opening A-main, denying Jürgen the win while the third place went to Bartlomiej Zambrzycki. The second A-main brought a surprising result when Oliver Havránek won ahead of Aleš Pelikán and Bartlomiej Zambrzycki. The third and decisive A-main was finally won by the TQ holder, Jürgen Horn. Blazej Orlowski finished in second with Aleš Pelikán in third. Overall Jürgen Horn grabbed the day’s win in the tie-breaker from Blazej, with the better starting position handing Jürgen the win. Blazej finished on the runner-up spot withAleš Pelikán completing the podium.
Another Austrian driver, Herbert Weber, dominated the Formula class as he won the qualifier with a margin of one lap ahead of his nearest rivals, Mario Sailer and Hannes Zuckerstätter. Herbert then went on to win the A-mains also to take the overall win ahead of Mario Sailer and Hannes Zuckerstätter.
The 1/12th scale class had Tomáš Lipták coming out fastest from Aleš Pelikán and Igor Lipták. The opening A-main then belonged to Tomáš Lipták ahead of Aleš Pelikán and Toni Eder. The second A-main was won by Aleš Pelikán with Igor and Tomáš Lipták behind. In the third and decisive main Toni Eder was the winning driver ahead of Tomáš and Igor Lipták. In the overall result Tomáš and Aleš were tie on points but with the TQ position on his side Tomáš took the overall win ahead of Aleš Pelikán and Toni Eder.
Michal Orlowski was the fastest driver in the 2WD Buggy qualifying and thus he took the TQ with a comfortable gap ahead of Martin Wollanka and Peter Pinisch. The opening A-main then was won by Michal Orlowski with the second place belonging to Martin Wollanka who was a lap short on Michal. Further behind Martin Bayer finished third. A2 again had Michal taking the win and with it the overall victory. Martin Bayer finished in second ahead of Martin Wollanka. A3 and Martin Bayer managed to finish second, just behind Michal Orlowski, to take the overall runner-up spot while Martin Wollanka finished the A-main on the ninth place. Overall Michal Orlowski took the win from Martin Bayer with Martin Wollanka completing the podium.
In the 4WD Buggy class it was Martin Bayer who dominated the proceeding. He took the TQ without great competition and also the opening A-main was easily won by Martin in front of Ales Bayer and Kaja Novotny while an unfortunate Martin Wollanka had to retire from the race. Martin then also won the second A-main to secure the overall victory with one leg to go. Michal Orlowski finished in second ahead of Martin Wollanka. The third A-main would decide over the runner-up spot and the race was again won by Martin Bayer. In the battle for the second position Martin Wollanka held the upper hand over Michal Orlowski who finished third and this would also be the podium positions behind Martin Bayer.
Milan Mudra was awarded with the best Junior driver and the Spirit of the Race award went to Adam Izsay.
