Mike Gosvig wins Danish 1/8th Buggy title
The final round of the Danish 1/8th Off-road Championship was held on the famous “horse hall” track in Bramming. The event attracted not only the fastest Danish drivers but also guests from Germany although these weren’t able to score points for the championship. In the premier 1/8th Nitro Buggy class Mike Gosvig, Peter Harder and Jan D. Jansen had all chances to grab the overall title and despite some receiver battery problems in the opening qualifier, Mike Gosvig took the overall TQ by coming out fastest in the following rounds. Pelle Culmsee would end the qualifiers on the 2 spot followed by Magnus Frandsen. Peter Harder and Jan D. Jansen would end the qualifiers in 4th and 8th place respectively.
The main final then saw Mike leading the opening lap only to drop back to 3rd on lap 2 after getting a jump wrong. Mike soon tried to recover as he was closing on Pelle while Burak Killic was in the lead. Mike quickly was able to overtake Pelle, waiting on a mistake of Burak. Later Mike ran into trouble with Markus Reise who took him out twice, leaving Mike with a tweaked car and no chance to challenge Burak. Ultimately Mike ended the race on the runner-up spot behind Burak but that was enough to win him the National title. Berkan Killic would round out the podium in third place while Jan D. Jansen and Peter Harder came in fourth and fifth respectively. Overall in the championship Peter grabbed the runner-up spot, Jan completed the podium.
In the 1/8th Nitro Truggy class it was again Mike who showed exceptional speed but a bad final round denied him the TQ, allowing Peter Harder to take the overall TQ. At the start of the final Peter was able to soon open a gap while Mike ran into trouble due to several mistakes. Behind Peter, Silas Hogholt was in second place until Peter was a little too fast after a fuel stop, breaking his truck on a barrier. This promoted Silas into the lead and it looked like he would be able to conserve the first place until the end but drivetrain issues meant a DNF for Silas, allowing a chasing Mike to take the win some six laps in front of Tim Culmsee and Mike Kjaersgaard. Overall in the championship Silas took the title from Mike while Peter Harder completed the top 3 result.
In the 1/8th E-Buggy class the race for the championship was on between Mike Gosvig and Magnus Frandsen. An entertaining qualifying saw Magnus taking the first round with German guest Burak Killic coming out fastest in the second qualifier. The third round was won by Mike Gosvig and in the fourth and final qualifier it was again Magnus who came out fastest to take the overall TQ from Burak and Mike with Berkan Killic rounding out the top 4. At the start of the final Magnus jumped into the lead while Burak rolled his car after a couple of corners, allowing Mike to pass into second place. The runner-up spot would not be for long as Mike ran into trouble in a jump section so Magnus was able to open quite a gap. Ultimately Magnus would win the final with Burak in second and Berkan in third. In A2 things got mixed up a little bit as Burak and Magnus would battle for the win but after a long battle Burak rolled his car, allowing Magnus to take the win and with it the overall victory and the Danish title. Mike ended the final in third after a battle with Pelle Culmsee. Overall in the championship Mike was able to grab the runner-up spot from Jan D. Jansen who completed the top 3 result.
