Hudy Indoor Championships – Report

The Hudy Indoor Championships marked the first large carpet race of the year and it was held at Pro Level Raceway in St. Louis, MO, host of the upcoming ROAR Carpet Nationals. The format for the event was simple with Friday practice, Saturday qualifying and a last chance qualifier and finals on Sunday. Paul Lemieux controlled most of the Modified Touring qualifying and after a clean start in the final was able to pull a good lead on Chris Adams but Chris was not to be denied and came back in the end to finish a very close second, Cody Woods would have a great drive to come to third.

Sam Isaacs and Kyle Klingforth were the class of the field in 13.5T Touring, battling threwout qualifying and the final. In the end it was Sam’s flawless driving getting the TQ and the win in a super close race, Chris Adams would battle threw to round out the podium.

17.5 Touring was much a mirror of the 13.5 class with Sam and Kyle pacing each other all weekend. Sam would again have the edge to TQ and run a flawless final for the win. This time it would be Cory Parsons who would have the edge to get to the podium.

1/12th Modified saw the battle in qualifying between Joe Trandell and Max Kuennung. Max would up the pace for TQ and after a clean start in the final cruise to victory over Joe Trandell and a deserving third would be Mike Pulfer.

13.5T 1/12th scale TQ Joe Trandell got out front and was able to maintain over the field. Max and Mitch would battle, but it was Max to second and Mitch Whitteman to settle for third.

TQ Joe Trandell was the class of the 1/12th 17.5 field but a early mistake dropped him way back and seemingly unable to recover. From that moment it was Mitch, Max and Shawn leading at times with Corey close all along. This was the most exciting final of the weekend with many lead changes. The end result would be Mitch Whitteman keeping his head down to snag the victory over Shawn Rayfield and Cory parsons in third.

After a crazy opening it was Tony block who pulled ahead at the start in the USGT class. After Tony it was a bit of a mix up. Having great drives were Dwight Smith and Rob King making it to the final podium spots.

In the Formula final Jim Piersol got out front and didn’t look back, many battles ensued behind but it was Jack Klober who pulled to second with Rob King Again raising to the podium.
