Mibosport Cup 2015/16 Rd3 – Report
The third round of the 2015/16 Mibosport Cup was held this past weekend at the Hotel-Sport in Hrotovice. The event attracted a total of 246 entries with 114 drivers signing in for the on-road classes while the off-road classes had 132 entries in total. The qualifying of the Touring Car Modified class was won by Kuba Simurda and right from the start of the first A-main, Kuba made his intentions clear as he was able to open a considerable gap on his rivals and he eventually came out successful in A1. Behind him, Helmut Frauenschum finished in second place as he managed to overtake Jiri Vysin who ended A1 in third place. The second A-main then again saw a dominating Kuba who controlled the gap to his nearest rivals Mario Sowka, Jiri Vysin and Zdenko Kunak and this would then also be the result of the second final. The third and final A-main was very similar to the second one as Kuba was in the lead again ahead of Mario, Jiri and Zdenko. The order did not change till the end of the final and so Kuba Simurda took the overall victory with Mario Sowka and Jiri Vysin completing the podium.
In the LRP Stock class Jürgen Horn was the man to beat and he made maximum use of his pole position in the opening A-main which he won in front of Oliver Havranek who managed to overtake Nico Haider for the second place. The second A-main then wasn’t that easy for Jürgen as he had to fight with Tom Krägefski for the win. In the end, Jürgen kept the first position ahead of Tom while the third place went to Nico Haider. Elsewhere Oliver Havránek had to retired from the race in lap 20. A3 and Jürgen easily won the final A-main, when Tom Krägefski and Oliver Havranek were fighting for the second place. Tom managed to finish just 0.09 seconds ahead of Oliver to take the second spot. Overall Jürgen Horn took the win of the third round of the Mibosport Cup from Tom Krägefski and Oliver Havranek in second and third respectively.
The Formula class was dominated by Herbert Weber who took an easy TQ to start from pole position into the finals. In the opening A-main Rene Kölbel had to retire some minutes into the race which made way for Erik Pauling who grabbed the runner-up spot behind leader Herbert. Mario Sailer came in third for now. A2 and it was again Hebert who took the win to secure the overall victory early. Behind him, René Kölbel and Vit Parak were fighting for the second place and ultimately René managed to take the second place just a second ahead of Vit. Herbert Weber did not give any chance to his rivals in the third A-main as well. René Kölbel and Vit Parak were again fighting for the second position but this time, Vit held the upper hand and secured the second place ahead of René. Vit and René ended tie on points with the better qualifying result handing René the second place overall behind Herbert and ahead of Vit.
In the 1/12th scale class Toni Eder was the dominating driver as he took all three qualifying rounds to secure himself the overall TQ. Tomas Liptak grabbed the runner-up spot from David Meiseleder. In the opening A-main Toni came out successful as expected with David securing the second place from Tomas Liptak. A2 and the top 2 order would remain the same, handing Toni an early overall win. The third and final A-main was again won by Toni ahead of David. Behind the two, Igor Liptak, coming from the 9 spot on the grid, managed to come in third, securing himself the final podium spot in front of runner-up David Meiseleder and winner Toni Eder.
In the 2WD Buggy class Ales Bayer snatched the TQ after close battles with his rivals. In the opening A-main, Ales was not able to convert the TQ into a win, enabling Hupo Hönigl and Kaja Novotny to get through to the top spots. The second A-main saw a great battle among Ales Bayer, Hupo Hönigl, Kaja Novotny and Maximilian Hauenschild who were driving very close to each other. In the end, the standings stayed unchanged. The third A-main was crucial as Hupo and Ales both won a final. Ultimately Hupo managed to overtake the leading Ales to win the leg ahead of Ales and Kaja. The overall results then saw Hupo taking the day’s win from Ales Bayer and Kaja Novotny.
In the 4WD Buggy class it was again Ales who took the TQ and again he had a hard time in the finals as in the opening leg Kaja would come out fastest while Ales also had to let Hupo go for the second place. A2 and Hupo took profit of a fight between Ales and Kaja to take the leg win. In the progress Kaja lost the third place to Thomas Diesselbacher. In the third and decisive A-main Ales again lost the lead and it was Hupo who grabbed his second overall win of the weekend with Kaja Novotny in second and Ales Bayer rounding out the top 3.
During the price giving ceremony Fulop Mor Szimicsevics was awarded with the best Junior driver trophy while the Spirit of the Race award went to Vit Parak. Marcel Rekettye was awarded with the special „Yokomo Star“ prize. The fourth round of the 2015/16 Mibosport Cup will be held on the 13th of February.
