BRCA 1/10th IC National Series Rd7 – Report
For the penultimate round of the BRCA 1/10th IC national series, the Adur club situated on the South coast of the county would be the venue. Unfortunately, due to the travel time required, many racers made the decision to not attend the meeting meaning that 23 drivers would compete with four drivers attending to race the 1/8th GT support class. The weather for the weekend proved to be cooler on the Saturday practice day with the temperatures rising for the main event.
In the 1/10th 200mm class, practice and qualifying proved very close. Mark Green (Serpent/XRD) would take the TQ ahead of Joe Kerry (Capricorn/O.S. Speed) and Alex Thurston (Serpent/XRD). After a challenging final, Mark would take the win ahead of Alex with Joe coming home in third.
In the 1/10th Sports GT class, British Open GP Champion Glyn Beal (Serpent/Picco) would take the TQ ahead of circuit local Richard Kozakiewicz (Xray/Novarossi) and Peter Hellawell (Serpent/O.S. Speed). Unfortunately for Glyn, the final would see retirement after contact with a back marker whilst holding a comfortable lead. This allowed Peter to come through to take the win ahead of Richard with veteran racer Jim Beesley completing the podium.
In the 1/8th GT support class, Scott Hellawell (Serpent/Picco) would come close to taking his first TQ of the season, just narrowly missing out to Glyn Beal (Serpent/Picco). Paul Dewsnap (Serpent/Max Power) would qualify in third. After problems at the start for the majority of drivers, Glyn would take the win ahead of Scott and Paul.
Thanks to Peter Hellawell for the report.
