BRCA 1/8th Circuit Nationals Rd1 – Report
With the first race of the new BRCA 1/8th Track season being at Cotswold Model Car Club as per the last few years, many racers turned up with one eye on the sky expecting weather conditions similar to the monsoon season. Saturday did not disappoint and the first half of the day was a wash out, with only a few racers braving the conditions, as the track dried drivers entered the process of getting the cars ready for qualifying on Sunday morning. Sunday came with a bright and cold start to the day, but most importantly dry. As the day progressed and the weather improved qualifying was to end with Mark Green in pole position.
As the final unfolded it was apparent nobody was going to challenge Mark for the win as his car was holding tighter lines with more corner speed through the complex infield of the Cotswold circuit, being the last man on the throttle out of the hair pin waiting for his car to point straight, it was apparent the engines in use by Mark Green were providing a clear horse power advantage over his competitors. Tim Wood was to take second place running a package identical to Mark Green, and Neal King’s first outing running for Team Shepherd rounding out the podium.
Final results:
1. Mark Green – Serpent/F.T Line – 117 Laps
2. Tim Wood – Serpent/F.T. Line – 115 Laps
3. Neal King – Shepherd/Murnan – 115 Laps
4. Jason Frost – Capricorn/XRD – 111 Laps
