Rioja & Abad win at Cantabrian Championship Rd3
The ASMOCAN club of Elechas, Cantabria in the north of Spain recently held round 3 of the Cantabrian regional championship. The race attracted a good amount of entries with drivers from all over the region attending in the 1/10th Touring Stock and 1/5th scale classes. In the Touring Stock class young Chicha Rioja took the TQ and win but the remaining podium spots where only decided in the final A-main with Alejandro Zarate and Edgar Schultz ultimately coming in 2nd and 3rd.
Unfortunately this time the entertaining and crowd pleasing large scale class only attracted five drivers and it was Valentin Saavedra who took the TQ after the qualifiers only to suffer from engine problems in the 30-minute main final as the high temperatures of over 30 Degree Celsius took their tolls. Valentin’s problems made way for Miguel Abad who took the win from runner-up, Juan Carlos Santiago while Sergio Maestro had to settle for 3rd overall.
Thanks to Edgar Schultz for the report.
