Czech 1/10th Off-road Nationals Rd2 – Report

The second round of Czech 1/10th Off-road Nationals took place in Janovice recently. The track layout was more on the easy side so close racing was expected and rain on Friday morning meant lots of grip for the practice rounds, however that would change over Saturday. For the qualifiers the track still kept some water and grip was on the okay side and in the 2WD class it was Kaja Novotny who showed great speed and winning Q1 and Q2 got him the overall TQ with Max Gotzl and Zdenek Miksovsky completing TOP 3 for the finals.

In 4WD, Kaja had a good run in Q1 to take the round TQ, but errors in Q2 and Q3 meant that Max Gotzl took the overall with Kaja lining up in 2nd and Zdenek again 3rd. Over in the Truck class it was all Kaja again as he TQ’d all three qualifiers.

For the finals the track became pretty dry and the organisers decided to leave it that way meaning the grip went from low to super low. In the 2WD finals Kaja’s buggy was on rails and he took tone to tone wins in all three mains for the overall. The main fight was for the 2nd spot as Max Gotzl had to defend his position from several challengers, but he managed it successfully. Zdenek Miksovsky completed the top 3 results at the end of the day.

For the 4WD finals Kaja opted to do some changes on the car and it paid off as he took wins in A1 and A2. Kaja then opted to sit out A3 with the leg being full of drama and in the end Zdenek Miksovsky took the win, which gave him a 2nd place overall.

In the Truck class Kaja struggled a bit with the low traction track in A1, but with a few changes for A2 and A3 he managed to take the overall ahead of Max and Martin.
