Urban Community Park GP Buggy Series Rd2 – Report
In celebration of the Indonesian Independence Day, the Indonesian R/C Car Community IRCC together with the Urban Community Park held the UCP GP Buggy Series Rd2 this past weekend. The Indonesia Independence Race, like the opening round, was attended by racers from all over Indonesia that were greeted by a challenging yet fun track layout. The format of the race was four qualifying rounds followed by bump-up finals. Stanley Wangsanegara took two TQs out of four rounds but young and talented Kenji Liono snatched the overall TQ position due to being more consistent over the four rounds.
The start of the final was a bit rough with some tangles in the first corner with one of the victims being Kenji who went into problems at the far right corner table top. This gave the leading position to Stanley which would only endure for about ten minutes when Stanley made a first mistake that promoted Yoyo into the lead. Unfortunately Stanley ran into tyre issues with a front tyre coming unglued so he had to pit which dropped him down to 5th position. Up front Choping, coming from P3, was able to get into contention for the top spot until his engine flamed out in the closing stages. It looked like Yoyo would be able to take the win, however out of nowhere Edianto sneaked to the front, challenging Yoyo for the win and ultimately it was Edianto “Banana” Ong with a respectable win from Yoyo and a recovered Stanley Wangsanegara. Kenji Liono came in 4th, while Sadikin Sutrisno, one of the best Indonesian nitro on-Road drivers, took the final podium spot in 5th.
