2018/19 Mibosport Cup Rd1 – Report
After six months of asphalt racing during the Summer season, the opening round the competitive 2018/19 Mibosport Cup indoor racing series was held with more than 200 entries last weekend. As usual the race is held in electric on-road and off-road classes with the on-road track remaining without changes. On the other hand the off-road track was slightly modified with new jumps and a banked turn, offering multiple layouts for the season. Racing-wise and in Touring Modified, Zdeno Kunak found himself on the top of the ranking list from early practice on. From there he made a clean sweep as he was able to secure wins in all qualifying round and also in the opening two A-mains. Matej Sulc starting from 3rd on the grid and left behind Kuba Simurda for 3rd. Oliver came in 4th in the tie-breaker with Kuba while Andreas Stiebler rounded out the top 5.
In Stock LRP Tom Krägefski took the pole position in front of Lukasz Mach and Oliver Havranek. This probably decided about the final result, because fast Oliver passed Lukasz and finally shortened the gap between him and leading Tom. Due to the short 5-minute runs Tom maintained his top spot and secured the overall victory in front of Oliver and Lukasz. Robert Patrzek finished 4th and Blazej Orlowski came in 5th.
The Formula class saw Andreas Stiebler, Lukas Hoch and Herbert Weber leading the way. The three were the biggest favourites for the class with the strongest field. 35 cars on the grid offered a beautiful view. After close fights in the finals it was Andreas Stiebler who stood on the highest stand at the end. Lukas Hoch, the Czech hope, took 2nd and Herbert Weber finished 3rd. Thomas Dvorzsky, winner from last season´s races, grabbed 4th position and Werner Spannbruckner scored a 5th place.
The 1/10 Pancar class saw a flawless victory Igor Liptak, who brought home the silverware. Martin Zvara came in 2nd and Tono Sloboda finished 3rd. Radovan Konopik on the 4th position lost a bit of pace and had to worry about Marek Hellbich, who was not far away.
In 1/12 Pancar Tomas Liptak was the pre-event favourite and of course he took the overall win. Branislav Panak tried his best to follow, but he had to settle for 2nd place in front of Martin Zvara. Boyd Chwartacki came in 4th and Radim Hruska completed the top 5.
Over in 2WD Buggy Michal Orlowski proved once again that he is a world-class driver, leaving behind Martin Bayer, and runner-up after the qualifiers, Hupo Hönigl. Ales Bidovsky took 4th after storming through the field and Adam Iszay finished 5th.
As in 2WD Michal Orlowski grabbed the overall victory in 4WD. Runner up Martin Bayer was close enough, but small mistake cost him a chance to get in front of Michal. Kaja Novotny took the 3rd position, which was a nice satisfaction after his performance in the 2WD class. Hupo Hönigl had to satisfy himself with a 4th place and Ales Bidovsky finished 5th.
