Winter Indoor Series Rd1 – Report
Last weekend saw the running of the opening round of the Swedish Winter Indoor RB series held in Eskilstuna. The fairly small track was laid out with some old school on-road carpet, making for lower-than-normal traction levels as they are experienced on EOS-style carpet. In the 4WD Buggy class it was Xray’s Alexander Landen with the overall TQ after winning the opening two rounds. As overtaking on the small track was very difficult the pole position would proof to be a real advantage and Alexander was able to bring home the win in A1 with a tone-to-tone win.
A2 saw Alexander making an error on the first lap and he had to pass nearly all of his competitors. He was able to recover though and only to hit a car that flipped onto the straight just before the finish of the final lap and he was passed by Serpent’s Pontus Larsson. Alexander came in 2nd with Xray’s Felix Angseryd 3rd. This meant that going into the third final Alexander, Pontus and Felix could all still take the win. The third final became a really tight affair between the three drivers, but Alexander was able to grab the win and take the overall win, with Pontus 2nd and Felix 3rd overall.
In 2WD Buggy Pontus Larsson laid down a stunning drive and seemed to have the car working great as well, so it was hard keeping up. Pontus and Alexander were 1 and 2 pretty much all day, and Pontus could secure the win in the first two finals as Alexander had to settle for 2nd overall. Xray’s Martin Johansson Nielsen would round out the podium result.
