2019 AWS Rd3 – Report
This past Sunday was the day to hold the third round of the AWS 2019 at Nene Valley Raceway with slightly lower numbers this weekend as 32 drivers made the trip to The Nene. The day kicked off with a round of timed practice and the drivers found the track tricky as to was very moist. After the round of practice everyone went into three rounds of qualifying with the best two to count. After a 45 minutes break for lunch the club went through the three 15 minute finals of the day. In the Buggy A-final, Jon Spencer took 1st place, Chris Sharpe-Simkiss took 2nd place. The very lucky driver Chris Lovell managed to get back up to 3rd after an unlucky crash at the start. Scott Follington took 4th place after a good battle with Chris.
The Truggy A-final was also a 15-minute race. It was a good one to watch with plenty of action going on throughout the race. In the end it was Carl O’Connor, the usual suspect at the AWS Series, taking the win. Wez Jolly took 2nd place, Peter Jones took 3rd and Mark Morris took 4th place.
