Alexander Landén dominates Rd3 & overall Swedish Cup
Last weekend it was time for the final round of the Swedish National Cup in tenth scale buggy. This year three rounds were run to crown the Champion and the third and final round was organised by Karlskrona MRK and was held at the great DR Racing arena in the small town of Kallinge. In 2wd qualifying it was straight away obvious that Alexander Landén (AE/Hobbywing) had the pace, in the first round he was the only one posting a 17 lap run. Behind Alexander his team-mate Nils Gustafsson (AE/Reedy) was battling it out with Hampus Berg (HB/Performa). In the end Alexander managed to TQ all four rounds of qualifying and Hampus edged out Nils to reach the runner up spot for the triple mains.
In the first main there was an eventful start to the run that saw both Alexander and Hampus drop down the order, and handed the lead to Nils. Nils had a spell of bad luck with a marshal and dropped the lead and Hampus and Alexander got back into fighting for the lead. After a few laps Alexander re-passed Hampus and capitalised on a mistake and was able to sail off to the win. Hampus came in second and Ludwig Albertz (AE/Dash) came in third with a solid run.
Second main was much less eventful, and Alexander was able to create a gap early on that he could manage, and as Hampus was chasing he made a mistake in a jump section so Alexander could run off with the overall win after two mains. Ludwig came in third with another good run. Alexander sat out the third round since the win was secured. Hampus and Ludwig finished first and second to secure second and third overall respectively.
Round three top three result:
1. Alexander Landén, (AE/Hobbywing)
2. Hampus Berg, (HB/Performa)
3. Ludwig Albertz, (AE/Dash)
This meant that Alexander secured a perfect score in the Swedish national Cup overall by TQ:ing all rounds and winning all rounds.
The overall top three 2WD result for the cup then became:
1. Alexander Landén, (AE/Hobbywing)
2. Hampus Berg, (HB/Performa)
3. Wilhelm Skjöldebrand (AE/Reedy)
4WD
In 4WD the hopes were equally high as in 2WD, even though we had found it challenging to find a good balance with the new tires for this season. Going in to qualifying the pace was there, but the car was still a bit edgy, however with a some adjustments to the diff oils during qualifying the stability was also found in the car. Alexander sailed off to four TQ-rounds, and behind him Joel Rosengren, (Team Associated) had a really solid run to secure second ahead of Wilhelm Skjöldebrand for the mains.
In the fourth round Alexander tried softening up the rear of the car a bit, which improved things even further, so he could make two good runs in A1 and A2 to secure the overall win in two rounds. Behind Alexander, Joel and Wilhelm seemed to be battling it out for the other podium spots, but a somewhat surprise victory in A3 by Emil Sjöö (Team Associated), who produced a really good and stable run being under pressure from both Wilhelm and Joel, saw him clinch second overall and bumping Joel off the podium.
