Schumacher Winter Series Rnd 6 – Report

Round 6 of the Schumacher Indoor Winter Series presented by the Louth Radio Control Car Club would conclude the series over the past weekend.  With a strong number of entrants it would turn out to be a frantic day of racing.  Chris lovely would sow up qualifying taking all four rounds with his Xray x4 23, with Series Champion Alex Brocklebank locking out 2nd with his Schumacher Mi8.  The fight for third included six drivers all with scores that could put them in the prime position.  In the end Matthew Cook with his Mugen chassis would have two 3rd round scores, behind him two more Schumacher Mi8’s of Daniel Burks and Joseph Cocking.  Daniel Leonard would place his Awesomatix into 6th ahead of Peter Craig with his Schumacher.

Onto the finals and it was a good getaway with all the cars getting away clean.  Chris would lead the field but Alex would make a mistake early on lap one dropping him to the rear of the field.  Matthew Cook would move up to 2nd and have a long race battle with Daniel Burks. Chris would pull the gap he needed and see this to the flag.  Matthew would make a crucial mistake that would drop him down the field, Alex would have a recovery driver coming back through the field.  The fight would go on for 2nd until the latter laps as Alex would get the move done on Daniel.  And they would see this to the flag. Matthew would hold off a late charge from Joseph, with Peter only a few seconds back.  Daniel Leonard wouldn’t see out the first lap.

The Round 6 results gave Alex Brocklebank the championship, with Chris Lovely in second, Daniel Burks in 3rd, Matthew Cook fourth and Callum Chapman in 5th.

The Next Generation Cup is a mini series set up to help and support our junior races.  Allowing them to climb the ladder and not be stuck racing in just their category.  Lewis Hordon would take the victory in this class, after making his was impressively through to the c final. James Colebrook would come home 2nd on the day, closely followed by Lewis Chapman and Jack Lawson.  Lucy Dabb was next up, and the young lady racer recovering from a difficult day, Jack Meggitt was close behind, and closely followed by Oliver Jaine.  With the juniors Lucy Dabb would take home the first Next Generation Cup title, James Colebrook would finish strong to bring home 2nd, Lewis Chapman would finish 3rd, Jack Lawson in 4th and Oliver Jaine rounding out the five junior qualifiers.
