BRCA 2WD Onroad Nationals R3 Mendip – Report
The third round of this year’s BRCA 2WD Onroad National Championship took place at Mendip over the weekend with Xray’s Luke Lee and Schumacher’s Andy Murray taking the wins. In Formula, qualifying would be a Luke Lee show, the winner of the opening two rounds of the championship taking all three rounds of qualifying from his brother Michael’s Schumacher. Behind them it was Michael Friebel’s new WRC edging out James Greener’s Xray for third by virue of the tie-break. The finals saw Lee taking all three legs for the overall win from his brother Michael with Friebel in third and Greener fourth.
In FWD, the first round of qualifying went to Andy Murray’s Schumacher FT8 with the only 16-lapper from Round 2 winner Ben Cosgrove’s Xray. Aaron Rose was third fastest with another Schumacher. It was again Murray in Q2 this time from Rose and Cosgrove. Q3 would go the way of Rose from Cosgrove with Jamie Hickin’s Schumacher in third. Overall it was Murray with the TQ ahead of Rose, Cosgrove and Hickin. The first leg of the final’s saw Murray take the from Rose and the second leg saw another win for the Schumacher driver this time from Cosgrove who held of Rose by less than 2/10ths. So, with the winner decided it was down to the final leg to decide the rest of the podium. It was Cosgrove who took a close win over Rose with Luke Westwood in third, the result giving Cosgrove 2nd and Rose third.
