Urbain promoted to full-time driver with Awesomatix

It is the ultimate dream of every dedicated RC racer and today after years of being one of France’s leading international touring car drivers Lucas Urbain has been reward for his dedication by being promoted to a full time factory driver for Awesomatix.  The popular and friendly driver from Longwy, home of the famous season opening GP3F race, has already represented Awesomatix for a number of years while working for French railway company SNCF.  Recently bringing the niche electric touring car and 1:12 manufacturer ETS wins on both asphalt and carpet, he will now debut for the team as a full time professional RC racer at the legendary TITC in Thailand later this month.

On making the announcement Awesomatix said, ‘Since joining the team in 2018 we witnessed Lucas’ rise towards the forefront of the touring car grid.  His commitment and dedication in improving his equipment and skills are proving to be an invaluable asset for Awesomatix and therefore we are thrilled to announce our commitment to further reinforce his position within the team.  On top of his racing and product development activities, Lucas will help expand the Awesomatix brand’s presence across all social media platforms.  Stay tuned for some exciting content in the coming months.  We wish Lucas lots of success in this new chapter!’

Commenting to the exciting deal, Urbain said, “Starting today I will be racing full time for Awesomatix!  I cannot be thankful enough towards Oleg Babich and Max Mächler for giving me this opportunity. I still love trains, but the giant train set that I used to call my workplace has granted me a couple years of sabbatical leave to try my hand at being a full time RC racer.  On top of my racing duties I will be working on expanding Awesomatix’s social media presence across various platforms so expect to see some (hopefully) cool stuff quite soon.  Needless to say I am beyond excited – while also anxious – about this new chapter.  I will obviously be racing quite a bit more, finally being able to focus on nationals, and also bigger flyaway events starting with TITC at the end of the month.

Red RC look forward to catching up in person with Lucas at the TITC as part of our race coverage presented by Hobbywing of what is one of the most significant Modified Touring Car Races in the World.  In the meantime you can follow Lucas’ preparation on his new Facebook page here.
