FEMCA Clarification on 1:12 World Championships

Following the release of the 2025 World Championship dates which we reported on yesterday and some resulting conversations about 1:12 not appearing on the list, our friends at FEMCA (Far East Model Car Association) have been in touch to clarify their position on the subject.  The governing body of RC racing that represents 15 nations in Asia and Australasia, the bloc has been tasked with bringing together the next 1:12 and next ISTC World Championship for IFMAR.  While the next 1:12 Worlds are due to take place in 2025, and the next ISTC in 2026, FEMCA after discussing internally & with IFMAR, that the prospect of jointly hosting the two World Championships together in China 2026.  While keeping Red RC updated on its progress, they would now like to publicly share these details with the wider RC community and avoid confusion especially within the 1:12 racing community.  Personally knowing all the people involved in putting together FEMCA’s exciting plan, Red RC is already looking forward their hosting of the championships .

“FEMCA are due to host the 2025 1/12 and 2026 1/10 ISTC per the IFMAR rotation and had quite a few options to host but one option, in China, has really stood out.

FEMCA have floated the idea to IFMAR of combining the two events – how it was pre COVID – and they are receptive to this. It doesn’t mean every 1/12 and 1/10 ISTC event will be combined in the future – but we have a brilliant facility we are working with in China, and a team who have the desire and capacity to offer both at the same time – it’s an opportunity we have to explore in full as whilst it does mean a single longer event, which is not ideal for all, it does have benefits in terms of overall travel costs and planning efforts – it is also the chance to make it a massive combined event with the chance to crown FOUR world champions over a single event.

So we feel we must give this serious consideration but importantly we also want to tick all the boxes before we announce formally. If there is any sign this won’t be amazing, we will revert to two events – 1/12 at the end of 2025 and 1/10 towards end of 2026. China is a seriously strong location for RC with many local manufacturers and global brands, plus government and community support.

So both events combined in early 2026 is the hope – the facility is amazing already and has some upgrades currently in construction to take it to the next level.

We have strong faith in the crew we are assembling in China with names like Leonard Kee (FEMCA Vice-President), Rick Wang and Gavin Kwok involved – it will have every chance of being a success.

The final call will be made in time for the Worlds in Bakersfield – so only a few weeks away to wait!”
