Cavalieri set for Philippine Masters debut

Four-time IFMAR Offroad World Champion Ryan Cavalieri is set to make his first appearance at the famed Philippine Masters which takes place from April 30 -May 4th.  The American is the fourth World Champion confirmed for the 13th running of the Manila based event joining David Ongaro, Atsushi Hara and Naoto Matsukura for what is the biggest edition of Asia’s most prominent annual offroad race.  Joining Invisible Speed, the car set-up platform created in 2020 by Joseph Quagraine, for 2025 as the brand’s first Pro driver and running Mayako buggies on the announcement he is going to the Philippines for the very first time, the race the second round of the Cayote backed Asian Buggy Championships, Cavalieri said, “Really looking forward to my first trip to race the Philippines Masters.  I have always followed the event and have tried several times to come but my race calendar was always busy around the same time with other events. I’m happy to finally make the trip this year.”

Team Associated RC10B7 Upper Front Wing

Team Associated is offering a lexan front wing for it RC10B7 to tune the aerodynamics of the 1:10 2WD buggy.  Installed using their #92487 upper wing mount, the wing allows racers to tune the airflow around the vehicle for optimal balance and to gain overall stability and reduce turn-in.  Alternatively using the lower wing will increase turn-in while no wing will give a default neutral feel.

Hobbywing Quicrun 16BL30 G2 ESC

New from Hobbywing comes the second generation of its 16BL30 ESC intended for use in 1:16 and 1:18 vehicles.  The new 16BL30 G2 is is significantly smaller than its predecessor being 8.3% shorter in length, 7.1% narrower, and 16.7% lower in height.  This new compact design makes installation easier and allows for cleaner wiring on the chassis.  Technically the BEC’s continuous current has been upgraded from 1A to 2A with a peak current of up to 4 amps.  The output voltage can be switched between 6V and 7.4V. Easily powering high-torque and high-voltage servos, this provides faster response and more precise control.  IP67-rated protection allows it to easily handle harsh environments such as rain, sand, and muddy roads, ensuring reliable performance without environmental limitations.

Reflex Racing RX550 Aluminium 1:28 Tweak Station

1:28 and Mini-Z specialists Reflex Racing has released a new Aluminium Tweak Station called the RX550.  Precision machined from 7075 aluminium and high grade stainless steel, this tweak station is precise, light weight and easy to use.  The tweak station features 3 adjustable feet as well as a bubble level to set the station level in North-South and East-West.  The Station pivoting bar is also ball raced for minimum friction and maximum precision.  The station is compatible with any wheelbase from 98mm all the way to 116mm so most 1:28 cars should be able to be adjusted.

Wood wins British 1:8 Circuit National opener

The opening round of the BRCA British 1:8 Circuit National Championship took place last weekend with former Champion Tim Wood taking a debut victory for the new Shepherd Velox V8.3.  Racing at the Brooklands track, which hosts 2 of the championships 7 rounds in 2025, Wood secured the TQ ahead of the Mugen Seiki of reigning Champion Alex Thurston with Andrew Hastings’ Shepherd completing the Top 3.  In the 30-minute final it was Thurston, winner of 5 races in a row last season, who took the early lead until a stripped 2nd gear ended his challenge.  Setting the fastest lap race Wood would go onto to secure a healthy win over team-mate Hastings with Thurston completing the podium.  Round 2 of the championship will take racer to the Cotswold track on May 3-4th.

T-Works MS1.0 BB CVD Drive Shaft Sets

Aftermarket parts and accessory manufacturer T-Works has added two BB CVD Drive Shaft Set options for the Yokomo MS1.0 1:10 Electric Touring Car.  The 45.5mm Ball Bearing (BB) equipped CVD driveshafts improve transmission efficiency and make for a smoother drive system.  Sold as a pair of CVDs, in addition to the standard set they offer a lightweight version which uses aluminium axles.

ABC Champion Wolhunter returns at Philippine Masters

Having clinched the 2024 Asian Buggy Championships title at the season finale in Indonesia last October after a consistent campaign, Sworkz’s Christian Wolhuter will get his title defence underway at the upcoming Philippine Masters.  Having opted to miss the season opener in New Zealand last month, the Australian returns to Manila for Asia’s biggest annual 1:8 Offroad race having finished fifth last year behind team-mate Joern Nuemann at the Circulo Verde Race Track.  Both the Champion of Nitro and eBuggy in the Cayote backed championship, the 18-year-old will be looking to build on his breakthrough international season and looking to his first away race of 2025 said, “Feeling ready for the Philippine Masters 2025 event, with a lot of travel last year and a good start to this year, I have high hopes. With high competition, it is going to be a long, tough fight throughout qualifying and finals. Edward Sio has always put on a killer event through accommodation and, most importantly, the track. Good luck to everyone participating.”
