Bultinck & Braham win Bleiswijk 1:12 Liga Race – Report

After a very successful first event in 2024, the permanent track of RC Indoor Bleiswijk in The Netherlands was over the weekend the host of the Dutch edition of the 2025 Die 12. Liga, a series of 1:12 races organised by veteran 1:12 racer Markus Mobers.  With almost 50 entries from Germany, Belgium, France and The Netherlands competing in 2 classes, it was Awesomatix driver Olivier Bultynck who took the win in LMP 13.5T while there was a home victory for Yuri Braham in GT 17.5T.

After timed practice the first round of qualification on Saturday ended up in a TQ for Dutchman Yuri Braham in GT followed closely by Dutch national Touringcar champion Lorenzo van Leeuwen in second and Robin IJzerman in third. Last year’s Touringcar WC finalist Olivier Bultynck took the overnight TQ in the LMP class, just 1 second ahead of Markus Mobers and local hero Richard Oversloot. The first racing day was concluded with a BBQ. The final rounds of qualifying were run on Sunday. In GT it was Yuri making his intentions clear by dominating the concluding two qualifiers with Lorenzo still in second and Belgian driver Lucio de Melio lining up for third.

LMP Stock ended up in a dominant TQ for Olivier, taking all three rounds with Markus in second and Richard lining up from third for the finals. Further down the ranking there was an impressive 5th place for youngster Louis Mobers and last year’s runner up Robert Krens just making the cut into the A-Main to start from seventh on the grid.

In the 3 finals we saw some intense, fair racing and great sportsmanship throughout the entire field!  After a great battle in A-main 1 in GT it was Yuri taking the win with Lorenzo defending his position to Lucio to finish second after a great battle on the track.  A-main 2 saw a convincing win for Yuri to win the event but another close battle between Lucio and Lorenzo ended up in a second for Lucio and a third for Lorenzo. In the third final Lucio was having a rough time in the first lap giving Lorenzo some space but towards the end he picked up the pace to put Lorenzo under pressure. Lorenzo took the pressure very well and defended his win to take second overall and Lucio in third.

In LMP Stock there was a great battle for the win between two world class 12th scale racers Olivier Bultynck and Markus Mobers.  Olivier took A-Main 1 in convincing style but in the second A-main we saw a huge crash of Olivier running into a marshal who was crossing the track to help another crashed car.  Olivier needed to retire his car and luckily the marshal was OK.  With Olivier retiring from the lead it was Markus with the win in A2 with Ian Bekaert in second and Louis Mobers in third. Olivier was able to repair his car to join A3.  In the deciding final is was Olivier stretching out an early lead over Markus to take the overall win with Markus in second and Louis Mobers in third.
