Austrian Electric On-road Nationals Rd1 – Report
The opening round of the Austrian Electric On-road National Championship was held at the Modellautoclub Graz track. The maiden outing of the championship at this track attracted 40 drivers to compete in the three classes of Touring Modified, Touring Stock and Formula with the weather forecast promising cold temperatures and rain. In the Touring Modified class reigning national champion, Dominic Vogl would win Q1 an Q2 to grab the overall TQ from Helmut Frauenschuh and Sascha Klug. Dominic would then also dominate the somewhat chaotic yet exciting A-mains to take the day’s win from Rene Dockter and Sascha Klug.

In Touring Stock 2015 champion, Jürgen Horn did not attend and so a bunch of drivers were racing for the TQ. Jan Popic, Manfred Pasch, Phillip Neudinger, Robert Eder and Vinzenz Schrank were all within tenth of a second, but finally it was Jan Popic who committed no errors to take the pole position followed by Manfred Pasch and Robert Eder. The finals saw three different leg winners and in the end, Phillip Neudinger was on top with Manfred Pasch on the runner-up spot and Jan Popic in third place.

The Formula class saw a close race between Thomas Landegger, Thomas Dvorszky, Thomas Bauer, Andreas Teubl, Andreas and Rene Kronsteiner. After the qualifiers Thomas Landegger was in the lead, followed by Thomas Dvorszky and Rene Kronsteiner. Like in all classes, the finals were pretty turbulent and at the end Thomas Landegger took the win with Thomas Bauer on the runner-up spot and Andreas Kronsteiner rounding out the top 3.
