Serpent SRX8 Pro 1/8th nitro buggy
Serpent have introduced their new SRX8 Pro 1/8th scale nitro off-road buggy. Based on the popular SRX8 Evo, the included updates will improve overall traction while offering an easier to drive car. The car received a couple of upgrades staring with redesigned differentials that offer larger internal gears and more volume, ensuring they will not fade or loose performance even in longs main finals. Also in the driveline area the Pro went back to captured centre driveshafts, doing away with the previous doggone system for a rubber-booted construction that is easier to maintain, that lasts longer and offers less friction.
Also new for the Pro is a redesigned ball bearing steering system that combines a couple of previous designs to create a steering feeling that is a lot more progressive, making car control easier without loosing a direct steering feeling. The Evo steering system however can be adapted, in case the utmost of aggressiveness is needed. Next up are new inclined caster blocks which will come in 15, 17.5 and 19 degrees and they mate with new inclined steering spindles. They ensure the original suspension geometry but smooth out the steering as they reduce chassis roll into the corners, which makes the car have a more stable and smooth feeling. They also decrease responsiveness around centre making the car more neutral feeling, allowing to run less overall caster which improves tyre wear. Also new for the Pro is a +15mm super tough wing mount for increased overall downforce while an optional chassis weight system allows to add 10g, 20g or 30g of weight in the front or rear of the buggy in order to adjust overall chassis balance. The weights attach using countersunk screws.
