Daan Haling takes 2019 BeNeLux 1/8 IC title

This year’s BeNeLux race took place in Genk, Belgium under very nice weather conditions. In the popular 1/8th IC class Daan Haling took the pole with only 0.1 seconds difference after 4 minutes to Yves Zoma in 2nd position. Renaud Velkeneers took the 3rd spot on the starting grid. In the final, Yves Zoma (Mugen) had some bad luck at the start which cost him about seven seconds, allowing Daan Haling (Capricorn) some room to open a gap on the field. 30 minutes and many pit stops later, Yves had only reduced the gap by one second so Daan would finish in 1st position with a 6-seconds lead on Yves. Clive Connolly (ARC) took 3rd a lap down.

In the growing 1/8th electric pan car series, local driver and Belgian champion in this class, Bert Aerts (Corally) took the title by winning two out of three finals. Dutch driver Janwillem Gons (ARC) was close behind in all legs and finished in 2nd twice to also take P2 on the podium. 3rd on the podium was Davy Wederholdt (ARC).

The 1/8th electric suspension class only saw local drivers competing for the win. Jos Sannen won the BNL title, 2nd on the podium was Harry Coenen, joined by Jordy Wederholdt in 3rd.

Thanks to the Model Race Genk club for the report.
