Hayato Ishioka crowned 2019 Speed King

The final round of the 2019 Speed King Tour was held at the SRT Sagami do racing track in the Kanagawa prefecture. The track’s layout suits both 1/8th and 1/10th nitro cars which makes for real high speed battles in the 1/10th electric touring classes. Yokomo driver Hayato Ishioka showed his speed right from the get go as he took the overall TQ after the three rounds of qualifying, however another Yokomo driver, Souta Goto took the pole position after wining the “Super Lap” session.

In the single A-main event Souta took a good start but made a mistake on the opening lap. This allowed Hayato to move into the lead with Serpent driver Yugo Nagashima chasing Hayato during the whole 5-minute race. The two were in a pretty close battle, however Hayato never gave room for Yugo to pass. Infinity’s Akio Sobue came in 3rd some three seconds behind Yugo. With the win, Hayato Ishioka took his maiden Speed King Tour Modified class title.

Over in the Touring Stock class Masaki Tsuboi took the day’s win from Taku Wakamatsu and Nobuaki Takagi in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Series points leader Shogo Eida finished 7th which was enough to grab the 2019 championship.

Toshinori Suzuki won the Oval class with Speed King Tour promoter Kazuki Endo finishing in 2nd. Hidetoshi Suzuki took the final step of podium.

Next year’s Speed King Tour will start in early 2020.
