EssexCarpetClash Round 3 – Report

Round 4 of the EssexCarpetClash was the first round of the series to run in 2023 with racers eager to get back on the track.  Racers were greeted to another fun layout, this time a little more technical, with a jump section catching a few people out.  After one round of practice drivers faced into 4 rounds of qualifying, with their best 2 to count.  Ed Kerry, managed to secure the TQ for the 2WD A-Main having topped the sheets for 3 rounds with his Serpent.  Kyle Moon was able to secure 2nd on the grip with his Willspeed machine after having PT troubles in the 1st round.  Christopher Delves driving his TLR managed to have a better count back score and line-up ahead Willspeed driver Demetri Panayides.  After 3 legs of finals Kerry managed to convert his pole in to the over all win, winning both the 1st and 3rd leg.  He didn’t make it easy for himself after making an error in leg 2 meaning it was all to play for in the 3rd, after Moon managed to also have a win in the 2nd leg.  Moon would take 2nd overall, using his win as the better counting score ahead of a fast Matthew Peters who were joint on points.

Four Wheel drive saw a tie on points for pole position between Richmond Rogers (Willspeed) and Steve Biscoe (Xray). Rogers managed to take pole, having had a better round track time.  Demetri Panayides would line his Willspeed ride up in 3rd having decent counting rounds. All 3 legs were needed to work out who would be on the podium.  With 3 different racers all taking a leg win, it came down to what they had to back it up with.  Pole Man Rogers would take the overall win ahead of Biscoe being out done on having a better time in the final.  Young Gun, Oliver Nattress was able to have a couple of decent finishes with his Kyosho from 4th on the grid and rounded off the podium in 3rd.
