Lovely makes it 2 from 2 in Schumacher Winter Series
Round 2 of the Schumacher Winter Series presented by the Louth Radio Control Car Club took place over the weekend with Chris Lovely taking the win in the hotly contested Contact RC 17.5 class. In qualifying Lovely topped the first three qualifiers before having issues in Q3 which was topped by Alex Brocklebank securing the Schumacher. A string of P2 times would give the Schumacher of Joseph Cocking 3rd on the grid ahead of destiny’s Daniel Burks. A duo of Awesomatix chassis of Dave Sedgewick and Paul Sleight. A clean start through the first corner, and a melee through the second would see Burks pushing Lovely early on in the single leg final. Chris would be able to bridge the gap and bring his Xray home for the win, ahead of Daniel. Paul Sleight would fight his way through from the back end of the field to time the final step on the podium. Incidents would mean Dave Sedgewick was fourth ahead of the Schumacher pair of Alex Brocklebank and Joseph Cocking.

In the Mardave supported class there was full field for this round. The top six were covered by a lap showing how close the field was. Harvey Greenfield would take top honours stringing together a couple of TQ rounds. Michael Burks would be second behind him, only just ahead of Andrew Babb and Stephen Jones. Josh Carlton showed pace but lacked the consistency ahead of Dave Greenfield and Simon and Mick Roper. Onto the single legged final, the field started out super close and tight until Harvey stretched his legs and pulled a gap to take the flag, the fight for second was super close between Michael and Stephen. Only fractions it in to the line. Andrew Babb was next along with Dave Greenfield and Josh Carlton, Simon Babb and Mick Roper

The Next Generation Cup, is the series to help push the junior drivers and give them the spotlight. A nice handful of juniors for this meeting, Tobi Gittins was the lead junior making his way up the ladder and into a few heats higher. Superb driving by him, James Colebrook was next up just ahead of Lucy Dabb, Oliver Jaine and Ewan Cook. These juniors were separated by not much and showed true speed and smart driving.
Thanks to Chris Lovely for the report.
